Digital cameras did not take high definition shots at that time. This is what we get when temperatures dip into the teens or single digits combined with a fierce north wind. The sea water is warmer than the air above it, causing the sea smoke. The wind-chill factor descends well below zero. Kent describes this weather in March 1919 just before he leaves Fox Island.
