Part of the icefield is managed by Kenai Fjords National Part; the other part by the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Nearly 40 outlet glaciers flow down from this icefield. The ones that reach the sea are called Tidewater Glaciers. Some are Valley Glaciers (Like Exit Glacier) and various types of Alpine/Mountain/Cirque Glaciers.
