In a June 20, 1919 letter to Carl Zigrosser he writes: “It’s more beautiful than any place I’ve ever seen! There are fertile fields, orchards young and old, high hillside pastures, noble groves of maple, hickory and pine. The verdant valley lies like a map below us.” But he can’t afford the $3000 price.
